Time magazine is not the first place we'd look to as a leading source on what is happening in the design world but this week they've posted their The Style & Design 100. Lots of great stuff to look at but only a glimmer of graphics appears in the whole bunch. As usual, when design is picked up by the main stream media it focuses more on the style than the design. Perhaps with the recent redesign of the magazine they decided the field of design was worth shining the spotlight on. Among the packaging designs listed are:
.... we call it exquisite. Thanks to the friendly and hard working staff at Mojave National Preserve we were treated to a small exhibition of Charley Harper posters during our visit last weekend. Well, the posters were hung in the bathroom but that didn't stop us from drinking in every detail of these fascinating works of art. It turns out that Harper was recently part of the "Graphic Content: Contemporary and Modern/Art and Design" exhibition at Cincinnati's Contemporary Art Center. Todd Oldham, it turns out, is one of his biggest fans and has collaborated with Harper on the upcoming book Charley Harper, An Illustrated Life which is scheduled to be released in June. If you can't wait until then treat yourself to a Coffee for the Birds gift pack which supports Charley's cause to save migratory bird habitat and you receive his Beguiled by the Wild illustrated book.
