With electronic design, the process includes planning, measuring, and positioning among many other factors. When designing overlays we:

• Determine the positioning of key elements (we can use a positioning grid overlay layer to aid in this process)

• Determine the fonts to be used

• Design and create any images to be placed within the overlay making sure to only use high resolution and/or vector imagery

• Determine the design sequence, particularly if the overlay has many overlapping coatings and die-cuts or laser cuts

• Ensure that color elements match daytime and nighttime opacity and specifications

• Determine the number and type of cuts, screens, backlighting, and layer specifications necessary for completion

• Develop orientation and layout specifications to coincide with manufacturing techniques and assemblies

• Consider breaking out common sections into a partial overlay templates to reduce the possibility of errors in repeated design patterns.
